APSSO 2011 Rules of Competition (excerpt from the organiser’s 5th APSSO 2011 Rules of Competition): THE REGULATION OF CHESS ORGANIZERS 1. Ministry of National Education of the Host country. 2. Indonesian Chess Federation under auspices of FIDE. RULES ASEAN Primary School Sport Olympiad (APSSO) will be conducted in accordance with the Rules of the Federation Internationale des Echecs (FIDE). In case of a disagreement in the interpretation of rules, the English text of the rules shall prevail. Any unforeseen incident not covered by the Rules shall be dealt with accordingly in the followings manners: 1. Technical questions shall be resolved in accordance with the FIDE Rules. 2. Cases of general nature shall be resolves in  accordance with the FIDE Rules. ENTRIES The players participating in ASEAN Primary School Sport Olympiad must be born after  January 1st, 1999 (Assume: for the 5th APSSO 2011) COMPOSITION PLAYER – COACH Boys: 3 players ( Team / Individual ) Girl: 1 Player ( Individual ) Coach: 2 persons COMPETITION SCHEDULE Schedule competition for Chess of ASEAN Primary  School Sport Olympiad ( APSSO ) appointed : ………………. VENUE Venue of the Chess competition should be at the same hotel where Delegation of participants are staying CATEGORIES & SYSTEM There will 6 events : 1.Boys Individual Standard Chess. 2.Girls Individual Standard Chess. 3.Boys Team Standard Chess. 4.Boys Individual Rapid Chess. 5.Girls Individual Rapid Chess. 6.Boys Team Rapid Chess. TIME CONTROL 1.Standard Chess: The time control shall be 90 minutes with 30 seconds increment after each move starting from the first move. 1.Rapid Chess: The time control shall be 25 minutes  with 10 seconds increment after each move starting from the first move. PLAYING CONDITIONS 1.Players must be seated at their respective tables BEFORE the start of each round. Once the start has been announced, any player who is ZERO START shall immediately be declared to have lost by default. 2.Pairing for all events will be based on Pairing Program existing in the Swiss Manager. SYSTEM OF COMPETITION Standard Chess and Rapid Chess : Players shall compete using the Swiss System of six ( 6 ) rounds in each event ( boys ) and girls with Round Robbin (Half Competition). In the last round, players from same country with more than 50% will not be paired together. Individual Event Scoring Method: Match Point (MP) Buchholz Score (BH) Sonnenborn Berger (SB) Progressive Score (PS) No more than two (2) players from each country shall be awarded  individual medals. Team Event Scoring Method: Total Victory Point of three players Total Ranking of three players Ranking of best player APPEALS COMMITTEE An appeals Committee shall be selected before the beginning of a tournament. This committee shall consist of three (3) members and two (2) reserve, representing of participant countries All of Referees/juries are from host country Protest can only be done by writing and bear the cost of 100 USD, it will be refunded when the protest proven. PRIZES The prizes will be awarded as follows, applying to Standard and Rapid Chess Individual Events First Prize: Gold Medals, and Certificate to the winner of each event. Second Prize: Silver Medals, and Certificate to the player placed second in each event. Third Prize: Bronze Medal, and Certificate to the player placed third in each event. Team Events First Prize: Gold Medals, and Certificate to each member of the winning team. Second Prize: Silver Medals, and Certificate  to each member of the team placed second. Third Prize: Bronze Medals, and Certificate to each member of the team placed third. ARBITERS / PROTEST It is obligatory that each participating country provides a accredited International Referee to officiate at the competitions as determined by the committee. Referees must hold an International Referee Certificate registered by FIDE. SCHEDULE EVENT before 12.00 Arrival 20.00 – 21.00 Technical Meeting 08.00 – 12.00 Standard Chess Round 1 14.00 – 18.00 Standard Chess Round 2 19.00 – 23.00 Standard Chess Round 3 08.00 – 12.00 Standard Chess Round 4 14.00 – 18.00 Standard Chess Round 5 19.00 – 23.00 Standard Chess Round 6 08.00 – 09.30 Rapid Chess Round 1 10.00 – 11.30 Rapid Chess Round 2 14.00 – 15.30 Rapid Chess Round 3 16.00 – 17.30 Rapid Chess Round 4 19.30 – 21.00 Rapid Chess Round 5 08.00 – 09.30 Rapid Chess Round 6 16.30 - Medals awarded OTHER MATTERS In all other matters not covered by the preceding rules, the decision of the Organizing Committee shall be final.
